Aluminium sheet price, week 41/2026: SMM A00 drops to 23,650
Shanghai reopened after National Day with two down sessions: the SMM A00 aluminium in...
A1050 Aluminum, often known as ductile aluminum, is a commercially pure aluminum belonging to the 1xxx alloy series. Its most prominent feature is its extremely high aluminum purity, typically 99.5% or higher. Unlike alloys such as 6061 or 7075, A1050 aluminum is non-heat-treatable; its strength is primarily enhanced through cold working (strain hardening).
Thanks to its high purity, A1050 Aluminum possesses valuable properties such as: excellent ductility, outstanding formability, strong corrosion resistance, and efficient electrical and thermal conductivity. It is the most cost-effective material choice for applications that require maximum formability, weldability, and bending capabilities but do not demand high mechanical strength.

The core factor shaping the properties of A1050 aluminum is its chemical composition, with Aluminum (Al) making up at least 99.5%. Other elements and impurities are controlled at very low levels to maintain its characteristic properties.
| Element | Maximum Content (% by Weight) |
|---|---|
| Iron (Fe) | 0.40% |
| Silicon (Si) | 0.25% |
| Copper (Cu) | 0.05% |
| Manganese (Mn) | 0.05% |
| Magnesium (Mg) | 0.05% |
| Zinc (Zn) | 0.05% |
This high purity is what gives A1050 its superior corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity compared to alloys with more complex compositions.
The strength of A1050 Aluminum varies depending on the degree of cold working, represented by different tempers. The O (annealed) temper is the most ductile, while H18 is the hardest.
| Temper | Tensile Strength (MPa) | Yield Strength (MPa) |
|---|---|---|
| H0 (O) - Soft | 65 - 95 | 35 |
| H14 - Half-Hard | 105 - 145 | 85 |
| H18 - Full-Hard | 150 | 140 |
One of the main reasons ductile A1050 aluminum is so popular is its excellent workability.
Thanks to its combination of reasonable cost and flexible properties, A1050 is widely used in many fields:
| Property | A1050 Aluminum | A5052 Aluminum | A6061 Aluminum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strength | Low | Medium - High | High |
| Ductility / Formability | Very High | High | Medium |
| Corrosion Resistance | Good | Very Good (Marine Grade) | Very Good |
| Weldability | Very Good | Very Good | Good |
| Cost | Lowest | Medium | High |
